Dual-Battery AGM, Parasitic Drain, and What Most Workshops Get Wrong
The L405 and L460 Range Rover run a genuine dual-battery architecture. The primary AGM (typically 95Ah H8) handles cranking and drivetrain; a smaller auxiliary AGM (around 12-20Ah) supports air suspension, terrain response and stop-start. Replace only one and the other drags the new unit down. We diagnose both on arrival, show you the readings, and only charge for what actually needs to change.

The Parasitic Drain Problem
If your Range Rover has been "starting weak" after sitting for three or four days, the issue is rarely a faulty battery — it is a module that is not going to sleep. Replacing a healthy battery will not fix it.
Before we fit a new AGM, we measure key-off current draw. Healthy spec is under 50mA after 45 minutes. If we see 120mA+ we flag it, identify the offending module (usually telematics, InControl or BCM), and advise before selling you a battery.

A strong alternative for Sport, Velar, Evoque and Discovery customers. Bosch AGM behaves identically to Varta under Land Rover's charging profile.

My Range Rover has two batteries — which one needs replacing?
L405 and L460 Range Rovers carry a primary AGM that handles starting and drivetrain, plus a smaller auxiliary AGM dedicated to air suspension, terrain response and stop-start. Either can fail independently.
Why do Range Rovers go through batteries so quickly in Dubai?
Range Rover is known for parasitic drain — the body controllers, telematics module and keyless-entry aerials all stay semi-awake for days after you lock the car.
Do you carry the SDD or Pathfinder tool for registration?
Yes. Every JLR battery we fit on vehicles from 2014 onwards is registered through SDD or Topix-Pathfinder so the BCM and power-management module know a new battery is installed. Without registration you get chronic under-charging, limp-mode suspension and stop-start failure.
Can you fit a Defender battery at a desert camp or villa in Al Barari?
Yes — our mobile units run 24/7 across the whole of Dubai. Defender 110 uses an AGM tucked in the right-hand footwell (L663) and needs JLR diagnostic registration.
How do I know it's the battery and not the alternator or parasitic drain?
On arrival we run a full diagnostic: battery load, CCA, alternator output, and a 50mA parasitic draw test with the car asleep.
