Nissan-Specific Things Worth Knowing
Nissan has the widest variety of battery strategies of any Japanese marque — partly because the range spans a 1.5-litre Sunny to a V6 twin-turbo GT-R. The older Patrol Y61 takes a heavy flooded 105D31R with the positive terminal on the right, while the Y62 (from 2010 onwards) moved to a Group 27 / DIN80 case. Higher Y62 trims — SE, LE, Nismo — add a secondary battery in the cargo bay powering accessory outlets, ICC and the fridge on regional specs; both cells need testing together or the ECU will flag a charge-balance fault.
The Altima and Maxima use standard DIN66/80 cells, front-mounted, generous hold-down — straightforward five-minute job. The X-Trail T32 (2014-2020) is similar, but the T33 Start-Stop from 2020 onwards mandates EFB or AGM H6 — fit a standard flooded and the start-stop logic shuts itself down after a few weeks. No BMS registration is required on Nissan — the charge management system adapts automatically.
GT-R, 370Z Nismo and Patrol Nismo require high-CCA AGM cells due to the short-cycle demands of high-compression engines in UAE summer. Typical sizes you will see: DIN55 on Sunny, DIN66 on Altima/X-Trail petrol, AGM H6 on X-Trail SS, 105D31 on Patrol, and AGM H7 on GT-R.

What size battery does a Nissan Patrol use?
The Nissan Patrol Y61 and Y62 typically use a 105D31R or Group 27 size battery around 95-100Ah with 800+ CCA.
Does my X-Trail Start-Stop need a special battery?
Yes. X-Trail (T32/T33) 2020-onwards with start-stop requires an EFB battery — a standard flooded cell will last six to twelve months before the system disables itself.
Why did my Altima battery die after only two years in Dubai?
Heat. The GCC summer kills standard flooded batteries faster than manufacturer life estimates. We recommend a silver-calcium or AGM-grade cell with high vibration resistance — Varta or Amaron Pro — which realistically deliver four to five years in Dubai conditions.
Do you handle GT-R and 370Z AGM replacements on-site?
Yes. The R35 GT-R uses a specialised AGM battery and the 370Z/370Z Nismo run high-CCA AGM too. We carry the correct spec and fit these at your home, office or even paddock without removing the car from its parking spot.
Can you replace the Patrol Y62 secondary battery?
Absolutely. Higher Y62 trims (SE, LE, Nismo) with fridge/accessory packs sometimes carry a second battery. We replace either or both, confirm alternator output on each bus, and verify ICC and electronic-assist systems clear of fault codes.
