Does my Audi really need VCDS battery coding?
If your Audi was built from around 2013 on MQB or MLB architecture and has start-stop, yes — VCDS (or an equivalent VAG diagnostic) must update the new battery's serial number and capacity in module 19.
Where is the battery on an A6 / A7 / A8 / Q7 / Q8?
These models carry the main battery under the boot floor, with a positive jump-start post in the engine bay.
Can you replace the 12V auxiliary battery on an e-tron or RS e-tron GT?
Yes. Both the Q8 e-tron and e-tron GT use a standard 12V AGM for body electronics, lighting and safety systems alongside the main HV traction battery. We only touch the 12V side.
Is AGM always required or will a regular flooded battery work?
Any Audi equipped with start-stop (all current petrol and diesel MQB/MLB cars) requires AGM. Fitting a standard flooded battery saves a little money up front but fails within 8-12 months under constant cycling in Dubai heat.
How long does an Audi battery replacement take at my office in DIFC?
Around 30-40 minutes from arrival. Longer for boot-mounted batteries on A6/A7/A8/Q7/Q8 because the trim and jack kit come out.
